A local man will be tried for killing a dog.
Daniel Perry was arraigned Thursday in Roanoke General District Court for felony torture of an animal causing death.
He’s accused of beating a dog to death behind RAM House on June 18.
Scott Rayfield is the dog’s owner. He says Pookie disappeared from his yard, a few blocks away from RAM House. The yard has a locked gate around it and Rayfield believes someone let her out.
“She was arthritic. She couldn’t hear. She couldn’t see. Most people would have put her to sleep a long time ago but I was babying her. I had to blend her food in a blender for her. That’s how much I loved her and I didn’t want to let go of her.“, says Rayfield.
Perry’s trial is set for September 24.
