A car safety-seat check was held outside the Toys R Us in Roanoke on Saturday. Roanoke Police, Roanoke Fire-EMS, Roanoke Safe Kids Coalition and the Carilion Clinic held the event.

Crews checked expiration dates, product recalls, and if the seats were installed correctly.
Jill Foster’s daughter is over a year old and Jill found out her little girl should face the rear while on the road.

“Her car seat, you can’t turn her forward until she’s 22 pounds. So she was actually riding in the wrong position, so we corrected that. They said she needs to stay rear-facing because she’s so petite, until she gets a little bit more height on her,“ said Foster.

It was a part of National Child Passenger Safety Week.
