Thank you very much (WSLS) on the coverage of the tornadoes, granted i myself was not effect buy them living in salem virginia people were able to feel safe about loved ones our even people they knew in the areas that were effected buy the horrible storm. That i think is real testoment,of how a station can really care about people in this area. I don,t get it people having a fit not being able to see their tv shows honestly. I myself being 25 without a college degree even i know better. For all those comments for no concern to others u know it makes me think how ignorent some people can be and thats just makes me sick.  Inconclusion for those who were affected buy the storm our loved ones that u know were effect buy the storm just know in ur heart their are still people out their that care about youand ur families (were praying for all) thanks again (WSLS)

I for one am sorry for those whose tv programming was interrupted, I don’t care much for it either, however; on Thur the 9th we were much grateful for it.  We were 200-300 yards from the tornado that touched down in Figsboro and had it not been for the persistence of the weather team indicating such activity I might not have been looking out my front door when it went across the field on the other side of the road.  We we could see leaves and debris flying through the air across the road we knew something was not right.  Of course I’m glad at the time I didn’t know it was a tornado because my response may have been different.  I simply thank the Lord for keeping it on the other side of the road even if we did get a birds eye view of it.  Thanks again for staying on top of it and keep up the good work.  God Bless :-)

bmbqueen, your post is a disaster. Some people care about human life more than sitcoms.

This was such a disaster!  If I wanted to watch nonstop weather, I would turn to your VIPER weather channel on Cox Communications.  Obviously, I was not the only one that felt this way because partway through this, Jeff said to watch our shows on the internet.  Here is a suggestion- Next time YOU go on the internet and broadcast non-stop and put a banner up with information so we can watch primetime programming.  It is bad enough we have weather about 10 times a newscast now we have to watch it during primetime.  NO ONE REALLY CARES AS MUCH AS YOU ABOUT THE WEATHER!!

Jeff and Patrick, Thank you for keeping our family informed. We live in Penhook and we were glued to the television until we lost power, and after that we felt as if we had lost our best friends. We had now idea what was coming next, had it not been for your coverage we were going to Gretna and would have been right in the middle of the tornado. Keep up the good work we feel like we owe you guys our lives. This is what local T.V and Radio is for to keep the communities they cover informed in times like these, for those who cant live with out one night of Earl they need to get a life. Thanks again.

I cannot believe how selfish you people are. Tornadoes were on the ground, and peoples lives were in danger. WSLS was the only station to stay on while the tornado warnings were in progress. Once they expired, they returned to programming. Comments here really show the true character of people. Good to know that you care about a couple of sitcoms more than people. Grow up!

These people need to get over ther lost hour of TV sitcoms....while I understand it might be frustrating and maybe the program interruption could have been a little better.....I completly back-up Channel 10 for their up to the minute coverage. It can save lives and that is a lot more important then some TV show. I volunteer my time to spotting storms to provide physical information to confirm what the radar shows.  I chose to use my time and resources to assit the NWS with accurate “on the ground” information.  I do this even for the people who’d rather be watching programmed TV. I bet you wouldn’t complain so much about it if what you saw on channel 10 was the one thing that gave you the information needed to save you and your families. Stop your crying about it and be thankful that your house wasn’t affected by the storm. So while other people are picking up the pieces of their home and life go watch you precious TV shows.

Just because you are on NBC does NOT give you the right to take over the whole channel! We have waited because of the writers strike, now we had to wait for the weatherman to figure out what to say next! I have to work during the new times, that leaves me out! Thanks WSLS, thanks for ruining my tv night!

The above comments are just plain hideous.  I thought that Roanoke had a well educated population.  Obviously not.  I think that if you are more concerned with missing a few programs than your own life.... It may be time to get evaluated.  Those guys do an excellent job and my family appreciates the warnings.

WSLS has never been my favorite TV station, and I didn’t know why. Now I know why! Even a DVR will not save the day since mine is set to record NEW shows, and it thinks it recorded them at 8. And who is writing this: “WSLS News Staff
Published: May 8, 2008

Due to tornado warning coverage, WSLS will run NBC’s Scrubbs and The Office from 4:00-5:00 a.m.  Scrubbs will run first, The Office second.”

It’s Scrubs, not Scrubbs!

Does NBC know about this fiasco?

Didn’t you even know that it was Scrubs (aka Scrubbs) finale?

I’m buying a weather radio and switching to east/west feeds on networks.
