The amount of the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a man police say brought a gun to campus at Ferrum College climbed $500 over the weekend.
A housekeeper told police she saw the man at Bassett Hall on February 26th.
No arrests have been made.
The reward money listed on the suspect’s composite sketch is up to $2,000.
The sketch can be seen at many places on campus.
The college’s administration ordered all dormitories to be locked 24-7 beginning this week, the first week students returned from an extended Spring Break.
The school also told housekeepers to use the “buddy system” while on campus, or do everything in pairs.
A newsletter distributed to students as they returned asked them to do the same thing.
The college also installed new security cameras inside Bassett Hall, but a spokesperson said the installations were planned before the gun on campus scare.
The school will also throw the student body a part Monday night.
A cruise ship theme, the party was a direct result of the scare. Administrators hope it will help restore the campus to normalcy.
