Story by Candice Nelson
Police were called to the Go-Mart on Williamson Road at about 11:30 on Saturday night, after they say a woman was hurt in a fight.
A police spokeswoman said by the time police got there, the two suspects were already gone. Police say those two suspects were William Steele, Jr. and Dontonio Foster. When an officer caught up with them at the intersection of Huntington Boulevard and Hillcrest Avenue, it turned into a foot-chase.
Carol Herington lives on Hillcrest Avenue.
“The perpetrator ran through our driveway and hopped our fence and tore it off the garage. [He] ran through the back yard and then went through the other fence as well.”
That left a piece of evidence behind. Herington said police collected an orange shirt that was left in her driveway. She said they had to prop a fence back up where it was damaged.
Police say the officer caught up with Foster in the chase which ended in the 3400 block of Hillcrest Avenue. Police say the second suspect, Steele, assaulted the officer until he was unconscious.
Steele is charged with malicious wounding of an officer. Foster is charged with malicious wounding for the fight at the Go Mart. Both are charged with felony obstruction for not cooperating.

To all of the people who have the nerve to say negative things about such an amazing man, SHAME ON YOU!! Law enforcement officers should be recognized more for all of the positive things that they do, everyday, for all of us.
A big “THANK YOU” to Officer Lawrence for all of the positive things that you have brought to this community & prayers that you will have a speedy recovery! God Bless you & your family!!

Officer Lawrence is a great person as well as a devoted officer and i am praying for him and his family.
I have known Bryan since i was a teenager and i am in my 30’s I have always looked up to him as a Awesome role model and for guidance during my teen years and still do, he was always there no matter what time of day or night
I am still shocked and hurting emotionally for him and his family.
I am praying for him with speedy recovery and quick healing.
I copy the comment from another person unless you have walked in an officer’s shoes you dont know what they go through emotionally, mentally, and physically,on an everyday basis and the things they see and stress they have to go through.
It amazes me how some people have so many negative things to say about an officer but when the person feels threatened that is the first thing they do is call 911 for that officer to put their life in danger and fix their problems whether it be big or small.
people need to realize police officers are human beings also and they hearts just like some of us (the ones that care that is)

I didn’t find out about this until school today and the news came at me with such a blow, it hurt. William was on borderline acquaintance/friend with me and treated me well whenever we spoke. He always had this cheery face, smiling and what not...so to hear and read that he did something so violent as this makes me think about who really are my friends and what not. Many prayers to the brave officer and his family and may he gain speedy recovery from his injuries.

To ArtMofo, If you are following this story, you will see that the police dept has released the name of the brave officer who was injured. I know this officer and I can tell you for sure that if you were in need of help, he would react immediatly, and not worry about what YOUR name was. I hope that now that you have this information, you can use it by praying for him!!!

To Artmofo...apparently you are one who likes to be negative. Let me yell you this, there is a woman that belongs to the same church I am a member of and she works for the city police dept. and she said that this man has been paralyzed from the neck down because of this senseless beating. What a shame that you think it is funny that someone who protects YOU everyday of their lives, gets hurt. That is very sad. It is because of people like you that we are a country whose morals have gone by the wayside. Can you imagine what your family would do if you were beaten so bad you were paralyzed? This Police Officer has a family and people who care about him. My advice to you is to grow up. I am going to pray for you and ask God to give you such a heavy heart about the things you have said and I hope you feel the guilt like no other and I will also pray that you come to know the Lord as your personal Savior and you will not have those kind of thoughts again.

Hey there ArtMofo...how about revealing YOUR REAL NAME? If it’s really Art Mofo, then is suits you to perfection because we all know what the slang “mofo” means. If you don’t, go Google it.

I only wish that police officer had been in MY yard when those thugs decided to beat on him. I would have come out and shot them both (to save the officer any more injury).
Unlike some folks, I am greatful for our law enforcement.

Can we all please refocus on what is truly meaningful here? There is no need to show respect for we are all created equal, and whether or not someone plays golf is hardly relevant. When it comes to it, they are who we all are going to call when we as a human race just cannot behave ourselves. Their job is not only stressful, but as well very demanding, a job that is truly a 24/7 job. They get to see the worst of human behavior every day, all day long, sometimes in double shifts. The article is a common everyday occurance, and truly is a small example, for as mankind goes, we are much more wicked. And this is the everyday life for them…

To Mr. ArtMoFo
You must live in the stone ages, and must have never heard of the HIPPA laws that protect EVERYONE’S privacy when they are seeking medical treatment! Or how about waiting until next of kin is notified!? You have no idea what the family is going through, and it is up to them, how much information is released! Until you walk a mile in a police officers shoes, close your uneducated mouth.
