It was like show and tell for Roanoke County’s Public Safety Department at an open house.
People learned the dangers of drinking and driving by looking through the eyes of a drunk driver with special goggles.
Crews also showed how they rescue people in some of the worst accidents, cutting through a car.
“It’s a good way for them to come in and see us in a non-emergency situation where we have time to talk to them and explain to them some of the things that we do and some demonstrations for both police and fire and rescue,“ said Chief Richard Burch with Roanoke County Fire and Rescue.
People also got a chance to tour the Public Safety Center.
