Roanoke Police investigate 4 purse snatchings

Roanoke City Police are investigating whether four recent purse snatchings are related.
Officers tell us the first one happened on July 10th, around 9:57 p.m. Police tell us a 58-year-old woman was getting into her car, near the intersection of Winborne Street and Memorial Avenue, when a man approached her, and demanded the woman’s purse. The woman gave the man her purse and another item.
The second purse snatching took place on July 17th, also on Winborne Street. Police say a 69-year-old woman was crossing the street in the 1900 block of Winborne St. between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., when a man grabbed her purse and ran off.
The third purse snatching took place on July 19th. Officers say a man grabbed the purse of a woman around 5:05 p.m., in the 100 block of Church Avenue.
The fourth purse snatching also happened on July 19th. Officers say a man on a bicycle was riding in the 500 block of Mountain Avenue, around 8:20 p.m. Police say the man on the bicycle approached a woman, grabbed her purse, then rode off.
