The proposed Rockledge Center on Mill Mountain gets support from its would be neighbor.
The board of Mill Mountain Zoo voted 9-1 Thursday in support of Valley Forward’s plan to build the restaurant, cafe and community center.
“It’s always the hope that no matter what comes up here that the people who come visit it, will bleed over, come over to the zoo and vice versa.“, says zoo director, Dave Orndorff.
“The blessing of the zoo board is very important to us. Anyone that’s going to be involved on top of the mountain has to be on board with this project. Any negatives from them would have been very harmful.“, says Sean Doherty with Valley Forward.
The approval of the zoo board does not mean the center will be built. The Mill Mountain Advisory Committee must weigh in and city council has final say.
