Roanoke Police have released the name of the store employee who was hurt in this afternoon’s store shooting.
They say 61-year-old Robert Kennedy of Hardy was hurt.
They say they are still trying to confirm the indentity of the robbery suspect.

Roanoke Police say the person found dead at the scene is believed to be the attempted robbery suspect, and the person taken to the hospital worked at the drug store.

Police tell 10 On Your Side’s Scott Leamon that one person is dead, and EMS crews took another person to Roanoke Memorial Hospital as a result of the shooting.  Officers would not say who those people are.

Officers believe the shooting was the result of an attempted robbery.  Police have not released what the robber was trying to steal from the drug store.

Roanoke City Police are investigating a shooting in Southeast Roanoke.

Officers are on the scene at the Sanco drug store, in the 1200 block of Riverland Road SE.  They tell us the shooting happened around 3:07 p.m.

WSLS has a crew on the scene.

That store owner is a HERO.  I’m sure Don Caldwell will go after him for defending himself, but in my humble opinion this store owner provided a valuable service to the Community.  Guess that “thug” picked the wrong store to rob.  I have no sympathy for that worthless toad.  I hope the store employee will be okay.  That Store owner deserves and award.

Thats one closed robbery case for the City Police.
