Smith Mountain Lake is set to host two nationally televised pro angler-fishing tournaments over the next two years.
After a successful showing in June 2007 at Parkway Marina on the Bedford County side of the lake, the Bassmaster Elite Series is returning in April 2009 and August 2010.
The event drew thousands in scorching temperatures in 2007 and was broadcasted to millions via ESPN.
Bedford County Administrator Kathleen Guzi said the national exposure and an economic surge in Bedford and Franklin counties, is invaluable.
“You can’t put a dollar value on that,” said Guzi.
