State Police say a driver was going nearly 100 mph on I-81 northbound Monday night when his car crashed into a tractor trailer.
The accident happened near the first Salem exit around 7 p.m.
State Police say a man driving a blue car went underneath an 18-wheeler.
He was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, but they say he is expected to be OK.
The driver of the truck wasn’t hurt.
No charges have been filed.
Traffic was backed up for nearly five miles.
All lanes are now open.
