Vinton hit and run arrest

Vinton Police arrest a man they say hit a Valley Metro bus, and drove off from the accident scene.

Officers tell us the hit and run crash happened around 4:07 p.m. on Thursday, May 15th, near the intersection of Hardy Road and Niagra Road.  When officers arrive, they found the Valley Metro bus, but not the car they say hit the bus.

Witnesses told police gave a description of the car, suspect, and present location.  Officers found the suspect inside a nearby business.

Officers interviewed 63-year-old Roger Earle Davis of Franklin County, then charged him with felony “hit and run” and felony “driving after being declared a habitual offender.”

Davis is being held in the Roanoke County jail.

Investigators are still figuring out how much damage the accident caused to the bus.

No one was hurt.
