More than three months after signing into a bright athletic future at Virginia Tech, 18 year old Peter Rose loses the opportunity of a lifetime.
Monday, Virginia Tech withdrew its scholarship offer. In a statement, coach beamer says:
“Each scholarship offer we make is contingent upon a number of requirements, one of which is maintaining the high standards required of each recruit in their community, school and on the football field. I am disappointed that this action was necessary.”
Rose faces four charges after a ten month undercover sting at his high school.
On two separate occasions, police say he sold a small amount of marijuana to an undercover investigator on school property, once in April and in May. Selling less than half an ounce of marijuana is a misdemeanor, doing it on school property is a felony.
Sheriff Jimmy Ayers of Amherst County says he never thought Rose would be one of the kids caught, “it’s such a tragedy, because he’s a bright young man with a bright future. And to think that he got caught up in this it’s just tragic.”
Rose’s arraignment is May 30th, the same day as his high school graduation.

Virginia Tech has withdrawn a scholarship offer to Amherst Quarterback Peter Rose.
This follows Rose’s arrest on drug charges last Friday.
In a news release, Hokies head football coach Frank Beamer said, “Each scholarship offer we make is contingent upon a number of requirements, one of which is maintaining the high standards required of each recruit in their community, school, and on the football field. I am disappointed that this action was necessary.”
Coach Beamer added that he would not make any further comment on the Rose situation.

Why withdraw his scholarship? He would fit right in with the rest of the VT FOOTBALL FELONS.
