More than 200 people participated in the March of Dimes walk on Sunday morning at the Salem Civic Center.

The walk raised money for prevention research.Organizers say one in eight babies in the nation is born prematurely every day. The March of Dimes is an organization committed to the development of healthy babies.

Todd and Meredith Burrow say they have a reason to believe in the cause. Their daughter, Ally, was born six weeks early. “Through research with organizations like the March of Dimes, [she was] perfectly healthy. No time in the NICU, brought her home in two days like any other normal healthy baby, but she was 6 weeks early,“ Burrow said.

A spokesperson tells us they raised more than $10,000 at Sunday’s event, but they need support year-round.
