Putting gas in your car is more expensive than ever and taxi cabs are no exception.

So Monday, Yellow Cab will ask Roanoke City Council for a rate increase.

The average cab ride in Roanoke is $8.40.  If the increase is approved, it would go up by $1.40.

People enjoying a night out downtown Friday tell us paying more would not keep them from taking a cab.

“If I’ve been drinking I would pay for it you know what I mean, just because a DUI would be much more expensive.“, says Glenn Lindie.

Cab drivers pay for their own gas.  Yellow Cab says the high gas prices are keeping them from attracting and keeping drivers.

I think people would be more understanding of the price hike if Yellow Cab was using more fuel efficient cars.  Wasn’t that a Ford Grand Marquis pictured in the video?
