At Blues Barbeque Company the beer is cold, the food is hot and the political conversation while people watch the Senate debate is lukewarm.

“I"m old enough to remember both of them as governors.“, says Chris Cloonan.

Cloonan listens to both men. He says he’s heard it all before, having worked for the state during both the Gilmore and Warner administrations.

“I paid a lot less in taxes under Gilmore than I did under Warner.  As far as the way the state ran, the business of the Government, it may have been better under Warner but I felt personally, this is just my opinion that I was better off after the Gilmore governorship than after Warner.“, says Cloonan.

“I am a Mark Warner supporter.“, says Katrina Hurt.

From down at the end of the bar, Hurt shares her much different opinion.

“I have been disappointed in Gilmore’s service record for our state.“, says Hurt.

“What I look at is the ins and outs and what they done to improve and make Virginia a better state.“, says Delphia Lewis.

Lewis tells us up front she’s a loyal democrat but even if she wasn’t, she says she’d vote for Warner.

“The position that he left us in was much better.“, says Lewis.

For better or worse, one of these former governors will be our next United States Senator.
