Bedford County deputies and Virginia ABC officers say they’ve put a big dent in the cocaine problem in the county.

Investigators tell us eight people have been indicted and arrested on cocaine charges.

Jamie Wheeler, Reggie Jones, Joshua Spangler, and Rex Bennett all face charges in connection with distribution of cocaine at the Wakefield Inn on Stewartsville Road.  As a result of the investigation, the owner of the Wakefield Inn surrendered his ABC license, and closed for business the Sheriff’s Office says.

Two other people face charges in connection with a drug investigation at Liberty Apartments from last October.  Avery Anderson and Phyllis Bryant each face charges of distribution of cocaine in a school zone (Liberty High School) and distribution of cocaine.

Separately, Andre Hall and Quincy Dionne each face one charge of distribution of cocaine.

The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office says the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control helped it conduct a five month long joint investigation into the drug charges.
