An arrest has been made in the shooting death of a Lynch Station man.
Alphonso Lamont Destin, 21, was arrested Wednesday night around 9:30 p.m. and charged with the murder of 69-year-old Wilbur West, police said.
West was found shot in the head in his Leewood Road home Sunday morning. According to a search warrant filed at the Campbell County Circuit Court, it appeared someone had gone through his pockets.
Destin was arrested near 11th St. in Altavista. Before West’s death, Destin stayed in a home a few houses away from West’s, police said.
Police say West is not their only suspect. They are continuing to investigate and expect to arrest a second person.
