Bank teller admits to stealing more than $200,000 from customers

A former Wachovia bank teller admits to stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the bank she worked at.
U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia John Brownlee, says Cynthia Carpenter pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $200,000 between January 2003 and February 2006, from a Wachovia bank in the Lynchburg area. Carpenter admitted to stealing the money from a variety of bank customers.
She faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison, and a fine of up to one million dollars.
“Ms. Carpenter used her position with Wachovia Bank to steal over $200,000 from bank customers,“ U.S. Attorney John L. Brownlee said in a news release. “I want to thank all the agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigations that worked hard on this case and were able to bring this
defendant to justice,“ Brownlee added.
