For the second time, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office has been reaccredited through the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission.

Sheriff Terry Gaddy was notified that his office passed the on-site assessment process that happened in May, according to a news release from the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office was initially accredited in 1999 and was reaccredited in 2004, the release said.

The accreditation process requires that law enforcement offices meet 180 required standards for professionalism for law enforcement officers.

The process examines the policies and procedures over the past four years and measures the sheriff’s office based on how its deputies follow those established procedures. The standards that must be met for accreditation cover the sheriff office’s administration, operations, personnel and training.

Those standards cover such things as the agency mission, budget and fiscal management, criminal investigations, court security, selection and hiring practices and disciplinary procedures.
