Abderrahin Elfilali remains in critical condition at Lynchburg General Hospital, nearly a week after he was shot during a robbery, a hospital spokesperson said Tuesday night.

Now, citizens and patrons of the convenience store where he worked have banded together with a common purpose — wishing him well and praying for his recovery.

A candlelight vigil is planned for 8 p.m. Thursday at the Citgo station at 3618 Campbell Ave.

The store’s windows now bear a mass of “get well soon” notes and personal messages, with pens and markers available for any to offer their sympathy.

Elfilali was shot during a robbery on the night of April 24. Six suspects, five of them juveniles, have been arrested and charged.
