A Lynchburg police chase over a stolen vehicle missing since Monday led to a car striking a home on Murrell Road close to E.C. Glass High School on Friday afternoon.
After a brief foot chase, police arrested a 17-year-old juvenile, said Lt. A.G. Martin of the Lynchburg Police Department.
The car struck a gas line at 2129 Murrell Road and caused some damage and ruptured the gas. Martin said the gas leak was resolved briefly after the incident occurred.
The Lynchburg juvenile, whose name was not released, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, a felony of eluding police, and driving without a license.
Jessica Rucker of Madison Heights called police at 4:35 p.m. after spotting the stolen 1994 Pontiac Grand Am that belonged to her friend, Melissa Williams of Lynchburg, while driving near E.C. Glass.
Williams, who arrived at the scene of the crash shortly after it happened, said the car and her keys had been stolen while she was at the Lynchburg Public Library earlier in the week.
Williams said Friday that she would press charges.
