With the end of the academic year near, Lynchburg College is teaming up with Goodwill to find a use for furniture, appliances, food, household goods, clothes and books that students leave behind.
As part of its “Year of the Environment” emphasis, student organization SERVE on Thursday placed Goodwill boxes throughout the campus for items to be donated.
Extra Dumpsters on campus are located in parking lots at Montgomery, Tate and Turner, next to the townhouses, and at the Vernon Street gravel lot, the College Street gravel lot, and the freshman parking lot.
Additionally, a Goodwill drop-off is in Turner Parking lot, close to Wakefield House, and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
LC faculty, staff, and students also will use trucks provided by Goodwill to go door-to-door and collect items to be reused. Collection times will be May 5, 6 and 7 from noon to 2 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.; May 10 from 3 to 5 p.m. and May 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
