A Lynchburg man will serve one year in prison for buying child pornography on the Internet.
Randy David Layne, 29, of the 8100 block of Timberlake Road, has pleaded guilty on one count of a first offense of possession of child pornography and four counts of subsequent offenses of possession of child pornography, Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Janell Johnson said.
Judge Mosby Perrow sentenced Layne to 10 years in prison with nine years suspended. He was also ordered to enter an outpatient treatment program, meet with a doctor to see if there is any medication he can be put on to reduce his sex drive and to submit to a sexual history polygraph.
According to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, Layne was arrested in September after an investigation that started in 2005.
Police said they started tracking Layne when he bought child pornography from a Web site under investigation by Suffolk County, N.Y., police. Local authorities found hundreds of child pornography images on the man’s computers and storage devices.
