Man drowns in Augusta County lake

Our NBC affiliate in Charlottesville, WVIR NBC 29, reports:
Divers have recovered the body of a 19-year-old man who drowned Saturday afternoon in Augusta County’s Sherando Lake.
Dozens of rescue crews searched the waters for nearly four and a half hours before finding the body of Jacob Andrew Davis around 7:45 p.m.
Emergency crews said Davis, a Texas native, was visiting the Valley with a church missionary group from out of state.
Augusta County sheriff’s deputies say Davis went under in an area of the lake where the water is six-feet deep.
Authorities shut down the lake during the search.

Our NBC affiliate in Charlottesville reports, divers recovered a body in Sherando Lake in Augusta County Saturday evening.
WVIR NBC 29 reports:
Dive teams searched the waters for nearly four and a half hours before finding the body around 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Emergency crews tell NBC 29 that the man was in his early 20’s and was visiting the valley with a church missionary group from our of state.
He went under in an area of the lake the water is six feet deep.
Sherando Lake was shut down during the search.
The man has not been identified.
