An Appomattox County man was killed early this morning after falling asleep behind the wheel, according to Virginia State Police.
Walter Lee Mosley, 68, died at the scene after crashing his car around 6:15 a.m., said Sgt. David O. Cooper.
It appears he fell asleep while delivering newspapers, Cooper said. He was heading west on Virginia 24, near the entrance to Holliday Lake, when he veered off the road, overcorrected and struck an embankment, flipping his 2000 Chevrolet Lumina.
He was not wearing a seat belt, Cooper said. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Mosley, who lived on Liberty Chapel Road, has been a paper carrier for the News & Advance since March 2006.
