Man found dead in Gretna has Lynchburg ties

Police have identified the man found dead Wednesday night in Gretna as Derek Lamont Williams, 23, whose last known address was on Dakon Street in Lynchburg.
The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday about a body lying on the side of Rockford School Road.
Investigators with the sheriff’s office said no wounds were found on Williams’ body, and they do not suspect foul play.
Authorities expect to transport the body to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke today for an autopsy.
Investiga-tors with the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office and the Lynchburg Police Department, as well as Deputy Chief Common-wealth’s Attorney Bryan Haskins, are involved in the investigation.
