Missing Amherst County man found

An Amherst man who disappeared Monday night, was found early Wednesday morning.

William Daniel Thomas,83 disappeared after leaving choir practice at Scott Zion Baptist Church on Galts Mill Road at about 7:20 p.m. Monday and did not arrive home. He was found by the Virginia State Police near Richmond at about 1:40 a.m., police said.

He has been reunited with his family. Thomas’ family says that he is in the beginning stages of dementia and suffers from diabetes, requiring regular medication.

OH THANK GOD THERE IS FINALY A HAPPY ENDING TO THE BEGINING OF A VERY SAD STORY.Yesterday Wythe County had a lot to deal with & I am so thrilled this GENTLEMEN was found. I think we have had enough sad news for this year. GOD BLESS YOU Mr. Thomas & your family. I hope you will have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS this year as Im sure you will. I know your family could not ask for nothing more now that you are safe.
