Brookville Middle School principal Bruce Abbott will take over as Brookville High School principal next week, Campbell County Schools’ Superintendent George Nolley said Wednesday.
Abbot’s appointment comes after former Brookville High School principal Jim Whorley died in a boating accident last month.
Abbott’s move up the road to the high school will create a domino effect in the school system. Abbott’s post will be filled by Eddie Martin, Campbell County Technical Center principal. Martin’s position will then be filled by former Campbell County Schools’ administrator Robert Ashwell, who will serve at the technical center until the end of the year.
Nolley said he was reluctant to make the moves in the middle of the year, but decided it would be best to get Abbott and Martin acclimated so they will be ready in the fall. The division will consider a replacement for the technical center this summer.
