U.S. Sen. Barack Obama will hold a town hall meeting in Lynchburg on Wednesday, according to a late afternoon announcement from his campaign.
The presidential candidate plans to speak on his economic platform during the event, which will start at 6:35 p.m. in E.C. Glass High School.
Sen. Jim Webb is expected to be among the participants.
Final arrangements were only made Monday. Obama is scheduled to visit Martinsville earlier that same day.
Staff at Obama’s headquarters at 1125 Main Street in downtown Lynchburg started distributing tickets for the meeting at 5 p.m. The office called people who previously expressed interest in being active in the campaign and invited them to attend the ticket giveaway. Around 30 people were waiting in line when the doors opened.
The Lynchburg event is free and open to the public; however, tickets are required. Tickets are being distributed through 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.at the Obama Lynchburg office .
