In a few days, Radford University students and teachers will leave for the Solomon Islands to search for remains of WWII Marines.

On Wednesday, the group was searching a cemetary at the Reynolds Homestead in Critz.

They were testing out ground penetrating radar equipment that will be used to search for the remains.

“We want to not only see what’s down there, what may have been found already, what may have been missed, but we’re also using this to train for the upcoming trip to Guadalcanal,“ says Radford University Professor Rhett Herman.

The group will be in the Solomon Islands for two weeks.

They leave Sunday morning.
