Attitudes Bar and Café in Blacksburg becomes the scene of yet another stabbing.
You may remember last December Eugene Leftwich of Radford was arrested and charged with murder after stabbing and killing someone outside of the bar.
A judge later dismissed the charge after Leftwich’s attorney said it was in self-defense.
The most recent involves 21 year-old Jonathan Samuels. Police say he stabbed a Virginia Tech student in the arm.
EMS took both to Montgomery Regional Hospital. They’ve since been treated and released.
Meanwhile, back at the bar things are back to normal, but 10 on your side wanted to know if there’s a pattern of problems in this area.
We dig some digging and found that in the past year the Blacksburg Police Department has responded to the 900 block of Prices Fork Road 159 times.
Police say more than half of those are officers being proactive whether it’s checking areas, conducting traffic stops or investigating suspicious persons and vehicles.
14 of those incidents resulted in a police report and 19 arrests, including samuels.
Lt. Joe Davis with the Blacksburg Police Department says as far as the stabbing this morning, police officers were already in the area and were able to respond very quickly.
As far as future patrols, Davis says if extra patrols are available then they will spend time in any area that needs them.
Police charged Samuels with malicious wounding. He’s being held at the Montgomery County Jail without bond.
