On October 4 around 2:15 p.m. police say two men fishing in the New River near Bisset Park observed a male body floating in the water on the Pulaski County side.
The fishermen immediately called 911. Several agencies responded including Radford City Fire and Rescue, Pulaski County rescue personnel, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and the Radford Police Department.
Police say the body, identified as 32 year-old Justin Edward Roach of Radford City, was recovered within moments.
They say Roach was last seen in the Fairlawn area around 11 p.m. on Wednesday night October 1.
Police say at this time, it is unknown how long Roach had been in the water.
Pulaski County Sheriff Jim Davis says the initial investigation found no signs of foul play. Davis says Roach’s body has been transferred to the medical examiner’s office in Roanoke where an autopsy will be performed.
