Three men have been arrested in the manhunt in Carroll Co. One remains on the loose.

The Carroll Sheriff H. Warren Manning says around1:35 PM Carroll County Dispatch received a call from a person on Buffalo Road saying that he had been robbed at gun point and that the suspects had shot the tires out of his car before leaving in a Green Ford Explorer with North Carolina tags. He says at 1:50 PM Deputy Sheriff Cody Edwards observed a SUV which matched the description on route 221 headed into the Town of Hillsville.

When Deputy Edwards tried to stop the SUV the suspects drove off at a high rate of speed.  The Sheriff says his and Hillsville Police Department Officer David Walls vehicles were rammed by suspects during the chase.

The chase continued onto I-77 where suspects headed southbound for approximately two miles and then crossed the median and headed back northbound.  He says, at mile marker 11 northbound, the suspects’ SUV stopped and three of the men ran.

He says the fourth suspect, 20-year-old Christopher Music was arrested by Hillsville Police Officer Alan Gravley. The other suspects were quickly identified as 20-year-old Corey Keith Smith, 23-year-old William Lloyd Music, and 20-year-old James Russell Music all of Mount Airy, North Carolina.

William Music is still on the run.

The Sheriff says all four suspects were charged with Breaking and Entering While Armed with a Deadly Weapon.

The SUV driven by suspects was confiscated and several weapons along with items taken from the victim’s home were recovered.

The Sheriff says at approximately 7 PM people contacted the Sheriff’s Office and reported sightings of suspects.

A Virginia State Police spokesman tells 10 On Your Side they are assisting the Carroll Co. Sheriff’s Office in locating more than one suspect.
Sgt. Conroy says he isn’t sure what has prompted the manhunt or how many people they are searching for, but say a manhunt is underway in the Fancy Gap area.
He says a car was ditched near mile marker 12 on Interstate 77 and that suspects ran from the car.
He says there are canine units on the ground searching and that they want to send helicopters up to assist, but because of fog can’t at this time.
The car has been towed.
He says more information will come from the Sheriff’s Office.
10 On Your Side has put calls into the Sheriff’s Office, but have yet to hear back.
We have a crew in the area and will bring you updates as they become available.
