Sgt. Charlie Mullins tells 10 On Your Side that 58-year-old Mike Petty of Pulaski died at Claytor Lake Friday afternoon.
Mullins says they think it was a medical problem that caused Petty to fall off the boat. He was able to swim to the shore with some assistance but was later pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death is under investigation.

Sgt. Charlie Mulllins with the Department of Game & Inland Fisheries says his department received a call about the drowning around 1:30 p.m. from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office.
It happened in the Allisona section of Claytor Lake.
Sgt. Mullins says the preliminary investigation indicates that a white male in his mid 50’s fell out of the boat after suffering from some type of medical condition; possibly a heart attack.
Sgt. Mullins says the victim was driving the boat. His brother, who was the passenger, helped get him to shore. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name will not be released until all family members are notified.
The Department of Game & Inland Fisheries is investigating.
