A woman and a child are recovering today after a crash killed man in Riner Tuesday evening just before 8:00 on Piney Woods Road.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer flipped over and was found on its top.  When emergency crews arrived, a male passenger, 35, was found dead in the front seat.  The woman driver, 37, was pinned inside the SUV and later airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released.  A one-year-old child was also inside the SUV, secured in a child safety seat.  The child was brought to New River Valley Medical Center, but was later released.

The names of those involved are not being released at this time.  The Sheriff’s Office says the cause of the crash is still under investigation.  Charges are pending in connection with the accident.

I love WSLS Channel 10 news. Recently I switched satallite providers, from Direct TV to Dish Network. I went with Dish through Embarq, my telephone service provider, to save money each month. I was told by Dish that I would have local channels. When they installed the dish, I found out that my local channels are WFMY & WXII out of North Carolina. I contacted Dish Network and they said that I am on the line, therefore I cannot get WSLS or WDBJ because I live closer to Greensboro. This is absolutely not true. I wanted to cancel and return to Direct TV but was told that they would hold me to my contract and I would have to pay a cancellation fee, even though I was misinformed regarding my local channels. Can you help me? I have tried everything that I know to do. I miss my local news more than you can imagine. Sincerely, Bebe Goard
