Local firefighters spent their afternoon putting out a brush fire. It started on 460 in Christiansburg around 3 p.m.
Many of you called our newsroom about the fire after seeing smoke.
It burned about an acre and a half.
The Christiansburg assistant fire chief says he believes a cigarette caused the brush fire.
Three homes were in the line of fire, but fortunately crews arrived just in time with water and brush trucks to put it out.
