Leaders in Galax hope a new program will help cut back on the number of stray animals in city and also help pet owners with the rising costs of taking care of them.
Under the spay and neuter program, the city will reimburse you $50 dollars or 50% to sterilize your pet; whichever amount is less.
To be eligible, you must provide proof of the procedure, along with an invoice, have an animal license and also provide proof of a rabies vaccination.
If you meet the requirements, then you’ll receive a reimbursement check within 30 days.
