Thursday was a big drug roundup day for Giles County as officers brought in person after person charged with narcotics violations ranging from meth to marijuana to cocaine, but mostly prescription drugs.
“The drug problem in Giles County is a problem,” says Sheriff Morgan Millirons. “I don’t know exactly how big it is, but I’ve had complaints on it for the last couple of years.”
Sheriff Millirons says he’s even received complaints about drugs in the schools.
In fact, he says, some of the drug arrests are based on information from students who possibly used drugs before, as well as, folks in the community.
Police started serving the indictments early Thursday morning, but still have a long way to go until reaching the total of 101. “It’s been a long time since we’ve broke 100 here in the county.”
The last time the sheriff’s office did a drug roundup was last October. That one only had about 30 indictments compared to today’s 101. It’s the first big roundup since Sheriff Millirons took office in January.
They hope today’s roundup leads to more down the road. “I just want the public to know that we are taking action on this illegal activity and it’s not going to stop here. A lot of people have come to us telling us where drugs are being used, where drugs are being sold and every time that we get that information we do act on it.”

As an upcoming Police Officer I am very pleased with the hard work of the Giles County Sheriffs department and the task force. Drugs are a big deal in this county and are mostly inside the schools these days and it was about time someone did something about it! As for everyone who is leaving the comments about my family and myself, you don’t see any of us getting arrested on TV and we are not behind bars. Maybe you should worry about yourselves and your family rather than me and mine. Once again thank you Giles County Sherriff’s Department for your hard work.
