People living in Elliston, and Montgomey County leaders have just been given a ray of hope in their fight to prevent an intermodal facility from being built there.
At an event in Richmond today, Governor Tim Kaine said he would not force the project on an unwilling community. The Governor’s press secretary Gordon Hickey told us Kaine said quote, “I have never done an economic development project without the full support of the community. If the community does not support the intermodal facility, then I will not pursue it.”
Hickey says Kaine believes the intermodal facility is still a good project for the region, and hopes the community and local leaders come around to see the greater benefits it would offer the area.
