State police are looking for a man they say led them on a high speed chase through Montgomery County.
It started around 9:30 Wednesday morning on South Main Street in Blacksburg.
Trooper Ken Kozar with State Police says it was right off the South Main Street 460 exit where he spotted the driver of a mustang squealing his tires and driving erratically.
When Trooper Kozar attempted to pull him over the driver sped off and began driving on the wrong side of the road into oncoming traffic.
The chase continued into Ellet Valley down North Fork Road and lasted close to an hour. After losing sight of the suspect for several minutes the chase ended when State Police spotted the abandoned car on the side of Bacchus lane next to woods.
Investigators used the help of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit but had no luck however they towed the vehicle and searched it.
Police say they’re now working on several leads.
If caught the suspect faces a felony charge of eluding police and reckless driving. Investigators say they’re working with the commonwealth’s attorneys office to see if any more serious charges can be placed against the suspect for putting so many people’s lives in danger.
Investigators don’t know why if drugs or alcohol was involved.
