Hundreds of people walking the streets, even more rummaging through bins and the aroma of every food you can think of floating through the air can only mean one thing: The Labor Day Flea Market and Gun Show is back in Hillsville.
“The best part is the food. We love to eat lots of different kinds and that’s what we’ve done today,“ said Galax native Lisa Horton.
While visitors stuffed their faces this afternoon, vendors stuffed their wallets.
“We enjoy the people. We’ve been coming here for a long time…just always friendly easy to talk to and business is pretty good,“ said Ohio Vendor Rick Prince.
There’s was also a pretty good turnout—despite high gas prices.
“If gas had stayed up around the $4 mark we wouldn’t have come, but since it came down a little bit we thought why not,“ said North Carolina resident Beth Hudson.
This year, organizers predict the Flea Market and Gun Show will attract nearly 500,000 people.
The festival runs through Monday.
