When the Hokies and Yankees took the field, it wasn’t about winning or losing, or even how they played the game.  It was about why they were playing the game.

The pregame ceremony was more uplifting, than somber, with the release of 32 balloons for the April 16 victims.

Tech officials presented Yankees’ team officials with Hokie Stones.

We found head football coach Frank Beamer in the stands,  “We’re going to go on stronger than ever.  That’s the way it should be at Virginia Tech.“, says Beamer.

Two baseballs were thrown during the honorary first pitch.  One was on behalf of Virginia Tech faculty by university Police Chief Wendell Flinchum and another on behalf of the student body by Virginia Tech Rescue Squad Captain Jason Dominiczak.
