Planning to hit the road or take to the skies this Memorial Day weekend?

According to AAA, nearly 824,000 Virginians will travel 50 miles or more.

We caught up with one group traveling from Ohio to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

They tells us when they left Ohio this morning, gas averaged about $4, but was actually $0.15 cheaper this afternoon in Hillsville.

It’s a small difference, but one that will help out tremendously on their 600 mile trip. “There are six of us in two vehicles,” says Timothy DeVaughn. So, it’s cost effective for each one of us. We’re all splitting the price. It’s almost $100 to fill them {two SUV’s} up and so far we’ve filled up three times.”

Some travelers tell 10 on your side that if gas prices continue to increase, then they’ll vacation closer to home.
