Hurricane supplies free of VA sales tax, shoppers taking advantage

As gas prices continue to soar consumers are getting a break on other items during Hurricane Preparedness Tax Free week.
If you walk into any home improvement store, like Lowe’s in Radford, you’ll see signs plastered everywhere pulling customers to the tax free items ranging from generators to flashlights to water.
Managers tell us shoppers seem to most interested in items like generators, flashlights and batteries.
Tax free week started on Sunday and runs through May 31.
