A former employee at Carroll County Intermediate School is charged with stealing money from the school’s vending machines. State police charged James Spicer of Hillsville with eight counts of grand larceny, dating back to the 2000-2001 school year. Spicer was a custodial worker for about 12 years. He is out on bond. Superintendent Greg Smith says the money may have been used to buy supplies and lunch for kids who can’t afford it.
