Galax Police arrest a man they say tried to recruit 20 juveniles for a gang.
Officers tell us Travis Carlray Goad tried to recruit the juveniles on or near school property. Galax City school workers and the Galax Police school resource officer investigated Goad.
He faces 20 felony charges under Virginia’s “prohibited street gang participation” statute. Since some the alleged charges happened on school property, if Goad is found guilty, he faces a minimum prison sentence of two years for each charge that happened on school property.
Goad is being held without bond in the News River Valley Jail.
