Local law enforcement officers spend their afternoon honoring some who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Today, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office hosted the 4th annual police memorial ceremony.

Dozens gathered to remember the more than 200 officers who have died nationwide since last year.

“I think it makes a very, very broad and loud statement to the community just what a sacrifice men and women in law enforcement are making for the protection of their citizens,” says Montgomery County Sheriff Tommy Whitt.

Montgomery County Officers Terry Griffith, Scott Hylton, Security Guard Derrick McFarland and Corporal Eric Sutphin have all died in the line of duty.
