A local woman is speaking out after being forced out of her dance studio for safety reasons.
You may remember, back in 2005, the television show “Extreme Makeover Home Edition” came to Blacksburg to build a new house for Carol Crawford Smith and renovate her dance studio.
Well, the town shut down the building where Carol’s studio is located after it says a leaky roof caused water to flow into the building.
Carol says she called the Blacksburg building official after noticing what could potentially turn into a dangerous situation for her students. “Quite a few years, there have been leaks inside the studio. That day I honestly don’t recall if there were leaks. I was just so focused on what was happening in the lobby area and concerned about students walking in that area.”
Blacksburg Building Official Cathy Cook says the building owners have submitted a contract for the roof replacement. She says it will be several weeks before work can start, because the company has some other jobs to finish first.
