Members of the Elliston Volunteer Fire Department have a new place to call home. Over the weekend, the crew moved into its brand new fire station. Construction started on the firehouse last January.
Chief “Pug” Wells says it’s twice the size of the old station. “We’ve got pull through bays. You do not have to back in and that allows truck behind a truck if need be. We’ve got room for twelve vehicles here. At the other station, we only had room for five.”
The new station also has an evacuation room, as well as, shower and sleeping areas for overnight crews.
